Buying a home is an exciting endeavor, but there is a fair amount of vocabulary that you may not be familiar with. How many times have you driven down a neighborhood and pointed to a house that you liked but didn’t know what the style was called? Wonder no more! Here is an overview of the most popular styles of homes, like the Craftsman Style, which you can recognize by its decorative beams or braces under a gabled roof.

Now we are getting into more modern styles of homes. Originally seen at the turn of the century this style has made a comeback. The siding is typically wood or stone and decorated with exposed roof rafters. The roof is low-pitched with wide overhanging eaves that cover a porch held up with decorative columns. The windows have multi panes top sashes and single paned lower sashes with dormer windows.
