Buying a home is an exciting endeavor, but there is a fair amount of vocabulary that you may not be familiar with. How many times have you driven down a neighborhood and pointed to a house that you liked but didn’t know what the style was called? Wonder no more! Here is an overview of the most popular styles of homes, like the Queen Anne style, which you can probably recognize by its wrap around porch and round tower with bay windows.

Queen Anne (1870-1910)

This quaint fanciful style of home originated from both England and France. The siding can be done with stone brick or wood but the most iconic look is wood. The roof features patterned shingles and decorative trim. In the Queen Anne Style home, the outside decorations are just as important as the interior ones and will feature carving or inset panels in the siding. The wrap around porch and the rounded tower with bay windows complete the quaint fanciful look.
