It is impossible not to enjoy the National Parks in the U.S. when you get the chance to visit one. However, often times it can be difficult to find the time to visit or the money to foot the park fees, which sometimes can be as much as $40.00 per vehicle.  Here are some dates to put in your calendar when you can enjoy all National Parks for no cost at all:

Most of the days are in spring and fall, so you can fit a visit in when the parks are just starting to bloom, or when the leaves are changing. Here are the fee-free days for this year:

  • January 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 16 through 24: National Park Week
  • August 25 through 28: National Park Service Birthday
  • September 24: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11: Veterans Day

Since the free days tend to be popular, start planning now if you want to take advantage of facilities like camping sites or guided tours. It’s also worth noting that special events or new days will pop up over the course of the year, and you can find all the National Park Service’s free days by checking this page, updated with new dates as they arise. If you don’t know where to go, find a park near you with the National Park Service’s Find a Park index.
