Stonebridge Mortage_Learning_The_Different_Styles_Of_Homes_Gothic_Revival_Style

Buying a home is an exciting endeavor, but there is a fair amount of vocabulary that you may not be familiar with. How many times have you driven down a neighborhood and pointed to a house that you liked but didn’t know what the style was called? Wonder no more! Here is an overview of the most popular styles of homes, like the Victoria Revival style, which you can probably recognize by its curved roof arches and decorative trim.

Gothic Revival (1840-1880)

Originally from England and France, this style is one of the more iconic. The siding can actually tell you some history about the home, like how rich the older owners were! Brick and stone sidings were typically only achievable for the wealthy. Middle Class usually opted for wood. The roofs are usually steep and complex with decorative trim hanging along the edges. The windows will be arches and sometimes have high dormers.
